FILSD 2024

The Caribbean welcomed me with warmth in the air… and in the soul.
Santo Domingo opened its doors with generous smiles, wise words, and an energy that made me feel at home.
This was my first grand event—a meeting with essential figures of Dominican literature who, with their experience, sensitivity, and humility, left an indelible mark on my path as a writer.

Listening to great voices and seeing in them an intact humanity reminded me that the true legacy is not the published work, but the soul with which it is written.
I want to reach 90 like the admirable Rina Espaillat—poet, bilingual translator, and a woman who, at her age, continues to be light, word, and action.

Thank you, Dominican Republic, for gifting me inspiration, new roots, and an even greater dream.
